Code, Create and Connect

The Penn Engineering Blended Learning Experience (BLI) STEM Academy, in partnership with Heights Philadelphia, is a four-week on-campus experience designed for Philadelphia high school students to explore pathways in Computer Science and Engineering. These experiential learning experiences equip students with the academic and professional skills needed to set a strong foundation for careers in STEM.

Each summer, students participate in the BLI STEM Academy as an immersive learning experience that fosters meaningful connections to STEM pathways through experiential learning, mentorship and college/career preparation. The program aims to further student’s interest and preparation for computer science, engineering and technology majors. BLI participants are mentored by Penn Engineering graduate and undergraduate students as well as BLI instructors, creating a strong community of learning and guidance. The program culminates in a final research symposium and presentations where students showcase their work and receive certificates of completion, while mentors are recognized for their commitment to student growth and development.

Overall, the BLI STEM Academy program prepares high school students for future academic and career pathways in computer science, engineering, and technology through hands-on learning, coding instruction and STEM career exploration.
